The meeting was called to order by the Hon. Jerry D.
Roseberry, Mayor at 2:35 PM. It was more a briefing than a meeting, so there
was not agenda.
Mayor Roseberry noted that he and Bob Schwartz had met
with Randy Vinson last week on Wednesday, January 11th. At that time
he decided that more of the Council should see the presentation to determine if
it is time to take this up at a work session.
So, he set this meeting up so as many councilmembers as possible could
hear the briefing and help decide on the next step-a work session agenda. He looks at this as an information meeting or
a briefing.
Randy Vinson took the floor and presented a PowerPoint showing a proposed
project: “Oxford Commons”. This would involve a mixed use development on both
sides of Emory Street near Clark Street. The Mayor and Council listened to the
presentation and engaged in considerable discussion with Mr. Vinson about
various details of the project. No
decisions were made. (A copy of the presentation is attached.)
At the end of the meeting Mayor Roseberry noted that there was consensus to
place this issue on the agenda for the work session Monday, January 23rd
at 6 PM.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:40 PM.
