Weekly Update 02/16/2017

From Bob Schwartz, City Manager

Drought? – The drought restrictions may be lifted soon. Here’s a picture of the spillway at Lake Varner on Wednesday. The lake is full and water is flowing over the spillway.

Arbor Day – Here are some pictures from Arbor Day that was celebrated Saturday, February 11th. It was sponsored by both the City of Oxford Tree Board and the Oxford College Tree Board. The program was presented by Dr. Eloise Carter of the Biology Department and was about the “Oxford Oak” a 200 year old oak tree that had to be taken down to build the new Science Building. The main program was in the Dean’s Dining Room in the new Dining Hall with a short demonstration in the Science Building. The Oliver family received the “Friend of the Trees” award from the City of Oxford Tree Board.
