→ Flint Hill Elementary School - Here are some pictures where Officer McClung attended an awards event at Flint Hill Elementary Monday night which included two of the children living in our city. Officer McClung has already developed a positive relationship with several of the young people in the city in her short time with us. Attending the event made a statement to the children that police officers do care and are their friends too. That’s officer McClung with Chris Wade on the right and with Isabella Marquez on the left.
→ Historic Signs – The sign in front of city hall is finished and work continues on the sign on Whatcoat Street.

A secret garden - the Forney property
Oxford College recently acquired 102 Pierce Street, located at the corner of Pierce Street and Emory Street, an 1867 house whose owners from the 1970s were Martha and John Forney. The Forneys were avid gardeners and collectors of plants, but for various reasons their gardens became overgrown, and the profusion of vegetation kept most passersby from realizing what lay behind. The college has engaged Holder Landscape Management to restore the grounds, and a gallery of photos reveals some of the hidden gems of this property, including three fish ponds, a grape arbor, rose garden, fine tree specimens, and other gardening delights. The ultimate use for the property is under study.
